CyberCore Awarded The Open Group Open Trusted Technology Provider™ Standard (O-TTPS) to Ensure Integrity of Product and Chain of Custody

January 19, 2018

Elkridge, MD – 1/19/18 – We are pleased to announce CyberCore Technologies (CyberCore) has been certified to The Open Group Open Trusted Technology Provider™ Standard (O-TTPS).

The O-TTPS was developed by The Open Group and formed through the consensus of stakeholders from all levels of the supply chain, from component fabrication to the end-user. In 2015, The Open Group submitted the guidelines they had formulated with the help of industry to the Publicly Available Specification process where they were approved and registered as the International Standards Organization (ISO)/ International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 20243-1:2018 standard. This standard is a powerful tool that empowers companies to safeguard customers from hardware tainted by counterfeit practices and malicious tampering in components and systems. In the ever-evolving arena of cybersecurity, higher standards of security must be leveraged to protect sensitive systems from increasingly sophisticated attacks.

CyberCore was audited by an O-TTPS recognized assessor, EWA-Canada, who found that CyberCore’s Cyber Supply Chain Risk Management (cSCRM) processes conform to the strict SCRM standards defined in the O-TTPS.  The assessment focused on evaluating CyberCore’s risk mitigation and security methodology for configuration management, production, supply chain, and included a review of all quality control standards. Additionally, EWA-Canada examined all personnel with access to the supply chain, management of third-party suppliers, and CyberCore’s logical and physical security practices. CyberCore’s O-TTPS certification includes Enterprise Data Center Systems, Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure Products, and computing, printing and imaging end-user devices. This certification enables CyberCore to deliver powerful security solutions, providing additional value to customers.

Over the last 25 years, supply chain risk within the IT industry has evolved dramatically. The rapid growth and adoption of technology has led to increasing amounts of product outsourcing and innovation to develop technology at increasingly competitive cost points. While this diversity enables technology innovation at lower cost, it also increases vulnerability to malicious influence. In today’s world, the steady growth of the “Internet of Things” opens potential vectors for attack that can impact all aspects of modern life, from personal and financial data to healthcare and national security industries.  “We believe that it’s our responsibility to commit the resources and efforts to ensure the security and integrity of our products,” said Brett Bennett, Alliance Partner Manager and 20-year veteran of the supply chain operations and cyber security field. “When it comes to our products and services, we consider ourselves the final safety net before an IT system touches a customer’s network.  One of CyberCore’s principal initiatives is to continually develop methods and technologies to ensure transparency of product disposition and maintain integrity of our solutions throughout the entire supply chain lifecycle. This certification is part of our continuing commitment to combat the ever-increasing risk of cyber-attacks throughout the supply chain.”

In our increasingly globalized marketplace it can be difficult to know with certainty the origin of each product component. The counterfeiting of reputable products has never been more profitable or harder to detect. Sourcing components and materials from reputable vendors has, conversely, begun to require more diligence than ever before.

Dave Lounsbury, Chief Technical Officer, The Open Group, said, “We believe that international standards and accreditation programs like the O-TTPS will raise the product integrity and supply chain security bars and levels the playing field for providers, component suppliers, integrators, and value-added resellers.”
