Elkridge MD, Dec 6, 2010
Kevin Powderly, Chairman and Co-Founder of CyberCore Technologies, has been appointed a member of the University System of Maryland’s Cyber Security Task Force made up of University faculty, Government agencies, and some the world’s leading technology firms. The task force will create a report for the new University of Maryland Cybersecurity Center (MC2) on degree offerings and requirements related to cyber security, future workforce needs, facility needs, and how to develop collaboration efforts in the future.
One of the anticipated outcomes from MC2 is job creation. As Mr. Powderly said, “Many of the jobs that people have now didn’t exist 20 years ago; it is a new world. Being flexible, nimble, and fast is critical. That is the spirit of our founding team and what CyberCore looks for when recruiting. It is a critical time in education and I look forward to contributing to this important effort.”
MC2 and the task force have been created in response to Governor O’Malley statement that, “Cybersecurity is one of the biggest threats facing our nation, but also one of the greatest opportunities for Maryland universities, businesses and federal labs to work collectively and strengthen our national defense and economic security.”
CyberCore and Mr. Powderly are honored to be a part of this prestigious initiative.
